Dory Mead Voice Studio Philosopy The philosophy behind this voice program revolves around each student as a whole entity, in addition to technique. When we take on any expressive endeavor we are asking ourselves to become fully aligned with the message we are expressing. In order to do this, we must become awake to our intentions, priorities and emotions. The voice is a conduit through which we pour our hearts and a tool we can use to experience joy through musical expression. My goal with each student is to gain an understanding of their personal goals for singing, help them to develop their instrument with healthy technique and to work with them to let go of tensions that may hold them back from full expression. I believe that to sing beautifully is a holistic process, incorporating all aspects of ourselves. In this way, singing can be a tool for self-discovery and acceptance.
